Kushimoto is a historical seaport town at the southern most edge of mainland Japan, gifted and nurtured by the furtile ocean current know as Kuroshio.
It is also a place where many people gathered as a transit point between the Ohechi Road of Kumano Kodo and ships sailing out to the Pacific.
It is a Japanese hidden retreat that is just 2 hours away from Tokyo. Please enjoy a moment of peace while feeling the history and the lives of Kumano.
ABOUT KUSHIMOTO
RENOVATION
Without someone to preserve and conserve them, the scene and livelihood of the traditional Japanese culture will decay and disappear.
Not only do we want to preserve these history and the lifestyle in the modern society, but also wish to revive them as an extraodinary experience that is both new and nostalgic.
"The entire town as a hotel" is our motto as we renovate traditional old Japanese style houses throughout the town to offer an experience of "staying here like living here".
